Alan Reid (Vocals)
Alan Reid is a graduate of Honors Music in Performance from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada in 1984. Alan currently resides in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Since 1989, he has been a well respected and sought after independent voice teacher specializing in the art of Bel Canto. His roster of clients performs globally and he is and has been honored to work with all of them. The learning is reciprocal.
One of Alan’s first undertaking as musical director was conducting the Mozart Requiem in celebration of Mozart’s 250th Birthday at the Performing Arts Lodge intimate theatre space in Toronto in 1996. Alan now has been a Music Director for 20 years and has worked for Curtain Call Players beginning with “The Wizard Of Oz” in the late nineties, followed by “Singing in The Rain”, and “The Music Man”. In the 21 century, “The Sound of Music” in 2006 and “A Christmas Carol” in 2015.
In 2013 Alan was hired to music direct “South Pacific” for Scarborough Music Theatre and again in 2014 for “A Funny Thing Happened On The Way to Forum”.Once again in the spring of 2017 for SMT, he was MD for “Man Of La Mancha”.
As a professional performer since an early age and was blessed to have music present in his life on both sides of his family, Alan has showcased his talent internationally in England, France, U.S.A., Bulgaria and across Canada. He gave an all-classical concert in Pigna, Liguria, Italy to celebrate his 50th birthday in 2011. He once again performed in Pigna in an all Bossa Nova concert featuring the music of Antonio Jobim in the summer of 2015 with renowned Italian guitarist Riccardo Anfosso.
In February of 2016 Alan was chosen to be the vocalist for the OctoKats, an eight-piece jazz ensemble lead by saxophonist Sarang Kulkarni. They have performed numerous gigs in the Greater Toronto Area and have been featured artists on Jazz Fm 91.1 in 2017.
